Accelerate Singapore and Kuala Lumpur 2004

Singapore
Its has been a great trip. 3 weeks of holiday. Remember the first day when I arrived at Penang, I already started counting down the day left for holiday. It is because I want to appreciate my holiday and enjoy myself to the max.

The very first thing when I touch down at Penang, I always went for food first. Yup! Dim sum, yum… Then straight home. My family celebrating the annual family Day at my home, so I felt so welcome when I reach home because everyone was there. Yaahh… I was too tired, so after lunch, I went straight to my bed.

I spend most of my first 7 days with family. No friends around and just purely family gathering. Went to weekend house for the whole weekend. It was great just be home.

Then the real thing start when I departing to Singapore on 3 Jan, Saturday night. The moment when I past custom, I knew straight that the fire and excitement begin to build up. Norman picked me up at Singapore, then went to Billy’s. I felt so sorry for Norman coz in the begin I planned to stay with Norman, but just thinking giving more space to Murry and Daniel since they staying with Norman too.

Get to know the Pastors and administrator at Emmanuel AOG. It was great to shock too when I met them. What I can see from them is just rules. Rules and more rules, when ever I saw them from far… what I can think of is No eating, No drinking and No…. this and No… that… and No… No… No… yah… that is how the whole conference went with all this rules.

Slowly the team build up when everyone arrived on Monday. We had many briefing and meeting. Many preparation and decision was made right at the point this is because we have no solid background of planning for a conference especially overseas church. I would say with God’s grace and glory, we won’t be able to make it happen.

Although there are many misunderstanding and situation happened unexpectedly, we still grow as team especially this committee who had put so much effort in it just to make this conference happen. From my point of view as Supervisor, this conference had really somehow change our perspective of interacting with people. Sometime we have to stand firm on our decision, and also sometime we got to be flexible. E.g. without rules, we may turn the sanctuary up side down, and be flexible so that people has more freedom to things , slowly you can see people begin to take lead for their department.

Beside these spiritual side, there are many incident that happened, and I felt totally embarrassed about it. e,g, I fall and landed nicely when I was at Suntec Food Court, because the floor is wet. Doing push up and running like mad people at Suntec when we playing Amazing race (because the pit stop is running away from us, what the!) I would say that the whole Singapore trip is really great and I really enjoy myself. From my perspective, we have time for shopping and as well as preparing the conference.

Kuala Lumpur
Took bus (first class bus with stewardess serving meal) to KL. Check in to Vistana Hotel at Jalan Ipoh. Shared room with Jeff. I thought that I going to have lots of complaining from Jeff because I snore, but guess what… he came and ask me… Did I snore! Well… this mean he not even know when I snore. Praise God!

KL look new to me… monorail, light rail link and etc. Its look so well develop now. Once thing that I learn from KL is that I will never drive to city if I could just catch a train because is so convenience and keep away from frustration. Travel by car is easy at KL, but it is not when you travel with group of people. It so hard to keep up especially when too late to realise that we had make a wrong turn.

CLC, City Harvest KL and bangsar gospel centre has agree to host us for 2005 Accelerate Conference. I am excited seeing the Young Adult ministry begin to grow. I would say that this ministry is new and has been well develop to many church. It is a exciting year because I slowly see the movement of this ministry.

I would take about 6 months of slow planning, starting from June, the committee for 2005 accelerate will be form and this time, we will try to get the publicity out as early as October. If you want to help… let me know.
